BEAUTY TIPS Dear Vivienne
Q. My face is always shiny, is this oily skin? I moisturise well with cream and always wipe my face with a towel before putting
my make-up on but later in the day I have to use powder to stop my face shining. How do you get a balance?

A. Your skin type is inherited from your parents and there is not much
you can do to change it. If you can see shine on your face, that indicates you have oily skin, or combination skin. However, normal balanced skin is very rare and combination skin (usually oily T-zone and normal to dry cheek) is very common.

It is possible that either your skin care or make-up products are not suited to your skin type. As we age, our skin changes, so you may want to modify your routine or the products that you use.
The type of moisturiser you use is also crucial. If you use a very rich moisturiser then this is the wrong choice for your skin type. You should consider using oil control products (cleanser, toner, moisturiser, fixing powder etc) to balance sebum. Sebum is the natural oil your body
secretes to lubricate your skin and hair. Oil-control products usually contain natural clays to absorb excess moisture and reduce the appearance of shiny skin.
At cucumba we offer skin and make- up consultation where we can assess your skin type and the skin care or make-up range that you currently use in order to help you understand how to make the right choices for your skin type and lifestyle.
