Dippinga toe in...

It’s causingquite a stironHolywellHill, the fishy experience everyone is talking about - I thought I’ddropin andseewhat’s drawing the spectators!

I picked a Saturday formy visit, which tookme a little by surprise as the placewas packedwith people. The garra rufa experience is extremely popular, withmany spas having opened in central London, and it looks like it’s a hit here judging by the number of peoplewaiting to take their turn in the tanks. Therewas a party of teenage girls at the back of the spa, giggling and thoroughly enjoying the treatment, aman and hiswife sat chattingwhile the fishwere darting about their feet, and two young ladieswho had dropped in as part of their Saturday catch-up.

I thought itwas time I dippedmy toe in so after a spritz and towel down by a therapist I gingerly loweredmy feet into the tank...

....and boy, did it tickle! The funny thing is that everyone’s reaction seemed to be the same.At first it’s theweird tickling sensation thatmakes you laugh, then after a minute or so, you don’t really find it ticklish anymore and it becomes very pleasant.

Iwatched the little fishyworkers nibbling away (in fact I think they just suck hard, no teeth involved!) and noticed, as Iwas sat by thewindow that, Iwas attracting something of a crowd, as the treatment is fun to watch, lots of Saturday shoppers were stopping and having a look through thewindow. They seemed to find it fascinating, and I have to agreewith them, itwas an amazing experience.Aftermy 10minutes I felt refreshed andmy feet felt pampered. You can finish the experiencewith a traditional pedicure and nail varnish, or you can even have Swarovsky crystals applied to your nails for a bit of bling, but I plumped for the natural look, slippedmy sandals back on and hit the streetswithmy revitalised tootsies.
