and Caroline Hoeye, honorary campaign chairs, who also donated $1 million toward the effort. In addition, Dave Trout Charities has committed $100,000 toward the construction of the new ICAN facility, which will be raised through the annual Dave Trout Golf Tournament in memory of one of the co-founders of Coffin & Trout Fine Jewelers.


McClendon expressed her excitement with the amount pledged, “We are so grateful for the support Dave Trout Charities is providing towards the new ICAN facility. The investment truly changes lives by helping keep youth away from negative influences, while allowing them to gain valuable skills to ensure their successful futures.”


The Lon E. Hoeye Youth Center will be built on 2.5 acres and will include six classrooms, a learning center, half gym, offices and conference rooms when completed in the summer of 2012. ICAN has outgrown its current 6,000 square-foot facility on Washington Street, where 150 youth enter ICAN’s doors daily and more than 2,000 were served in 2010.


The architect is Bollinger Consulting Architects, Inc. and construction management is provided by Chasse Building Team.


For more than 20 years, ICAN has provided nationally accredited preventative programming to at-risk youth in Chandler at no cost to participants or their families. ICAN’s mission is to provide free, comprehensive programs that empower youth to be productive, self-confident and responsible members of the community.
