AZ Arts ‘Fools’ comes to Sun Lakes Theatre Xico exhibit ends soon
Tickets for Sun Lakes Community Theatre’s showing of “Fools,” one of Neil Simon’s popular plays, go on sale at 10 a.m. Tue., July 5.
The show begins at 7 p.m. and runs Tuesday through Sat., July 19 through 23. A special matinee performance will be at 3 p.m. Sun., July 17. Thursday, Friday and Saturday showings can include dinner, beginning at 5:30 p.m. with a no-host bar. Tickets are $15, or $35 for combination dinner and play. Chandler artist finds voice in Downtown Ocotillo
Singer, songwriter and guitarist Holly Kirsten of Chandler performs a weekly show of live acoustic music from 3 to 7 p.m. Sundays at the Living Room Wine Café and Lounge in Downtown Ocotillo.
Kirsten performs in a range of genres, from pop, opera and rock to reggae, country and soul.
Currently working on her debut album, Kirsten performs at venues across the Valley throughout the week and toured Australia in 2010.

Hypnotist performs Fridays in Chandler
Stage hypnotist and speaker HypnoTERRY performs his comedy hypnosis show at 9 p.m. Fridays in the new showroom at C-Fu Gourmet Restaurant in Chandler. Terry is a graduate of Creighton University in Omaha, NB, and has studied hypnosis with masters such as Ormond McGill, Jerry Klein, Jerry Valley, Calvin D. Banyan and Robert Kennzington.

July 13 is the last day to view “Xico Inks: The Art of Printmaking,” an exhibit featuring artwork by local Chicano, Latino and Native American artists, and presented by Chandler’s Xico, Inc. at Tempe Public Library. The display includes information on the history, technique and cultural context of printmaking by indigenous Southwestern artists, who traditionally used monoprints, screen prints and other techniques as a method of communicating political, social and cultural ideas.
Xico is a multidisciplinary arts organization promoting indigenous arts and culture through community-based arts programs.

Gilbert teen headlines ‘Pinocchio’
Gilbert teen Curtis Lunt stars in “Pinocchio,” running through Aug. 20 at Hale Centre Theatre in Gilbert.
At 14 years old and standing 6 feet, 1 inch tall, Curtis is jokingly called by his fellow cast members “the world’s tallest Pinocchio.” Dorman Smith performs the role of Geppetto, the puppet maker. Gary Caswell directs and also appears as villain Papa Lasagna.
Tickets for the classic family-friendly musical are $14.

Sweet artwork on display
Tempe Youth Library, in conjunction with two accomplished Valley artists, presents “Eye Candy,” a display of food artwork that is especially colorful and delightful in appearance and theme.
The exhibit runs July 14 through Dec. 5 at the library, 3500 S. Rural Rd., and is the product of artists Veronica Francis, who has shown work at Desert Botanical Gardens, Herberger Theater and Gammage Auditorium, and Adrian Lesoing, who is a senior Fine Arts photography student at Arizona State University and vice president of the ASU Photographers’ Association.
