The Chandler-Gilbert Community College Center for Workforce Development, located in Sun Lakes, offers a variety of classes and programs throughout the year to assist community members in updating existing skills and learning new ones. Take advantage of new programs and classes being offered throughout the summer at CGCC’s Sun Lakes Center.
The LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) AP+ Building Design & Construction Exam Prep Course includes a complete review of LEED credits, hundreds of simulated LEED AP+ exam questions, LEED BD&C worksheets, strategies for passing the exam as well a review of the processes, procedures, and calculations associated with attaining LEED certification for a building. LEED Building Design & Construction is the largest and broadest of the US Green Building Council’s LEED rating systems. This course is offered on from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wed. and Thu., July 20 and 21 and from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thu. and Fri., Aug. 18 and 19. The fee for this course is $695 and includes all books and materials, which includes Everblue’s LEED BD&C Handbook, four Online Simulated BD&C

Practice Exams, memorization sheets and certificate of completion. Note: The national certification exam for LEED involves a separate fee and is not part of this course. Students may apply for and register for the LEED exams through the Green Building Certification Institute at

www.prometric.com. Photovoltaic System Installation is a 64-hour course which will provide an overview of the basic Photovoltaic (PV) system design and application. The goal of the course is to bridge the understanding of electrical load from utility bills and the PV technology with an emphasis on utility-connected residential PV system. Topics for this course include basic electrical principles, introduction to photovoltaic systems, solar radiation, site survey and preplanning, balance of system, cells, module, array, system sizing, array mounting, utility requirements or net metering, renewable energy tax incentives, safety, tools and the National Electric Code. In addition, off grid PV system topics include load analysis, balance of system, charge controllers, batteries, parallel and series wiring, operation and maintenance.
Chandler-Gilbert Community College is a registered NABCEP PV Entry Level Exam Provider. This course will be offered from from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays Aug. 29 through Sept. 26 at the CGCC Williams Campus. The fee for this course is $1,495. Prerequisites include being a minimum of 18 years of age and knowledge of basic arithmetic and math.
