BBC hits right note at Glasto
BY STEPHEN PRICE
The music festival season only ever really gets going when Glaston- bury arrives, all muddy and hot. U2 didn’t have to tax themselves to be top dog, but Plan B might actually need one. EastEnders benefited from being generally incommoded by Wimbledon, while that other SW epicentre, Chelsea, is still proving attractive. U2, surely light years from their
radical roots now, provided BBC3 with its best-performing Glaston- bury rating of 890,000/5%. And not a P11D in sight. At the uncom- fortable end of the spectrum, Plan B couldn’t overcome the mighty Chuggington: Badge Quest on CBeebies, both managing 470,000. Friday’s EastEnders, moved to
BBC2 to accommodate ‘Murray Mint Mania’, doubled its usual BBC3 audience with 1.2 million/ 6%. E4’s Made In Chelsea is still
doing fine, although the promise of 700,000 from 13 June wasn’t repeated this week. However, including +1, 576,000/3% is the second best of the run so far.
