Another year has gone by, and here we are again, with another issue of the California Holstein News Annual Magazine. I want to thank the California Holstein Association for giving me the opportunity to publish this Annual and showcase the best of California Holsteins and it’s members.

Carolina Evangelo

I want to congratulate all of this year’s award winners, especially, Dennis and Kirsten Areias and Jana McClelland. In the coming pages you will read about all of their tremendous

accomplishments and contributions to the Holstein Breed.

You will also have a chance to see all of the amazing accomplish- ments and involvement of our junior members. I see a bright future for the Association when I look at our junior membership and all of the amazing young people in our organization. I wish all of our juniors attending the National Convention, in Virginia, the best of luck in all of your contests and competitions.

Many of us know that the glue that keeps our Juniors Association together is Kirsten Areias. Kirsten, thank you for all that you do for our junior’s, they shine so brightly, because of you!

I hope that all of you had a chance to gaze at the beauty of this year’s cover, it is graced by this year’s Grand Champion - Ruann Lassiter Anna-70651. I want to congratulate Ruann Dairy and the Maddox Family for exhibiting Anna and also being named this year’s Premier Breeder and Exhibitor at the California State Holstein Show.

When flipping through the State Show pages you will notice that we have a new addition this year – Te California State Red and White Show. Congratulations to the Red Rena Syndicate, they exhibited Rob-Sara Rliner Rena-Red, this year’s Senior and Grand Champion of the 1st ever California State Red and White Show!

To both the breeders and commercial advertisers of the Annual, this publication would not exist without your help and support – thank you for your generosity and ongoing support of the magazine. It has been a pleasure working with all of you this year!

It has also been a delight working with a fantastic team to make this year’s magazine come together. I owe a very special thank you to Julie Brown, Eric Cribbs and all of my special helpers for their tremendous efforts and hard work to make, this Annual, California’s Premier Holstein Publication. I couldn’t have done it without all of you, Tank You!

A final thank you is extended to my Publication Committee – Dino Migliazzo, Patrick Maddox, Melanie-Dias Hoggard, Tara Davis, Jared Fernandes, Tony De Mello and Kate Briggs. Your time and dedi- cation is truly appreciated.

It’s been a pleasure working with all of you, I hope you enjoy this year’s Annual!

Until Next Time,

Carolina M. Evangelo Editor
