Church Starts Clean Up Buckets Collection for Disaster Response

submitted by Reverend Bill Ferguson, First Congregational Church UCC, Pelham The New Hampshire Conference of the United Church of Christ has been challenged by the Maine Conference of the UCC to respond to the recent disastrous storms all over the U.S. by collecting Disaster Relief Clean Up Buckets. They have pledged to make 1,000 Clean Up buckets over the next 30 days. A special truck will deliver these to points in Vermont, New Windsor, MD, or Elkhart, IN, for distribution. Members of the First Congregational

Church of Pelham have responded to this need! After a request by the Mission Committee to the members of the church, a goal of 10 complete buckets was issued. Each bucket has a cash value of $31. As of June 21, 18 complete buckets have been pledged toward the New Hampshire and Maine Conference goal! Members of

the Pelham church have been scrambling with co-workers and families to dedicate the buckets in honor and memory of Fathers, Graduates, and more! The buckets will be collected and

delivered directly to those in need. If you would like to help as a group or an individual, complete buckets can be donated or items to help complete a bucket may be donated as well. Reverend Jan Howe is the New Hampshire Conference Disaster Coordinator and can be reached at e-mail pnjhowe@comcast.net.

Specifications for the kit can be found at www.churchworldservice.org/kits and buckets may be dropped off at the First Congregational Church of Pelham, 3 Main Street in Pelham. Call 635-7025 for more information, or check out the Mission Challenge: Disaster Relief Clean Up Buckets Facebook page!
