Business Mum Carola Weymouth of Cookie Crumbles
Raring2go! speaks to Carola Weymouth, owner and founder of Cookie Crumbles – a local business that offers fun cookery lessons to children
How long have you been in business? Almost 11 years- it seems like I only started yesterday- but with more wrinkles… What gave you the idea? At the time I was working as a food editor for a national woman’s magazine and I started to create pages with recipes dedicated to children. As somebody who’s been passionate about food and cooking since young age, I felt kids weren’t encouraged to cook and be creative in the kitchen. I started of with running classes at home-while still working as a
full-time editor. I left my job to give it my all and Cookie Crumbles became my new passion. What part do you love the most? When the kids say to each other “this is the best party ever”. Has everything gone to plan – or if you had to start again, is there anything you would have done differently? Not really, I didn’t really have a plan. I just wanted to get kids excited and share my passion. I’m very blessed that it devel- oped into a successful business. As a mum did you find it
difficult to juggle family life with your business life? Yes definitely-my work evolves a lot around weekends when we organise a lot of cooking parties. But my children have learned to accept that I’m at work at the weekend and can’t share some of the fun things they do. It’s all part of it. What’s your favourite thing to do or place to go to with your children in South West London? I simply love Richmond Park. If we got time as a family we go for a cycle ride around the park and look at the deer- sheer bliss.
