WHEN TO GO: Barcelona is a great city break destination all year round thanks to it’s coastal climate. It also never gets too hot, a major plus in a city, so it’s ripe for a visit at all times of year.

WHERE TO STAY: As with the restaurants there are simply stacks of hotels around to suit all budgets. For those who are looking for luxury and with cost not an object, the Hotel Omm offers stylish accommodation on Passeig de Gràcia, 5 minutes’walk from Gaudí’s La Pedrera. It features a rooftop swimming pool and a terrace offering excellent views of Barcelona. A room at the Hotel Omm will range from £200 – over £500 per night.


If your budget is slightly more conservative then Hotel Pulitzer is right next to Plaza Catalunya in the centre of Barcelona. A double or twin room will set you back somewhere in the region of £120 per night. Finally, if you are on a tight budget, then then newly built Abba Rambla Hotel, set in the Raval District, 500 metres from Las Ramblas and Liceu Metro Station is a comfortably, well decorated, air-conditioned hotel that offers a double room for just £90 per night.
