Watch out, you may have seen emails about a Mac virus - they are true - Macdefender is now in the wild. The original version needed you to put in your Mac password before it ran amuck, but the new version does not. First encountered


at the beginning of May, the Trojan hits Apple users after they find their way to fake websites by following “poisoned” search results. So be very carefeul about googling as some websites are fake and will infect even your shiny Mac - then they demand money to fix it and of course, they do not!


Internet Explorer 9 is here and so come the problems. There are a number of websites that inevitably will not work with IE9 and that is a pain, but you can work around it. Look for the “compatibility View” and try logging in to the site using this. If that fails, then for now we would suggest using another browser such as Google Chrome, which is now very similar to IE9, but will more than likely work for you for the sites affected, or Mozilla Firefox, which might look a little more friendly.

when you do, all hell breaks loose because they were not who they seemed to be and you have given them all your details. They now seem to be using genuine emails, from say Natwest, but from around 9 years ago. Look out for the date now as well as any bad grammar or poor spellings to point to the email not being authentic. File sizes these days are so large that external hard drives formatted FAT32 cannot cope. In other words, if you are using an external hard drive to back up data and any of those files are over 4gb you will need to do something otherwise they just will not go. What you need to do is format the drive using NTFS and all will be well. If you need to do this, open a command prompt and type format /? and look at the information on /FS. Or give us a call and we will do it for you as formatting always makes people ask the obvious question......


Having trouble installing SP3 for XP, because it fails to install Beethoven’s 9th symphony or similar? This is a curious problem due to permissions and the fact that you are using XP
