AG-SHOWCASE 2010: GROWING ATTENDANCE & IDEAS

More than 250 venture capitalists, industry leaders, entrepreneurs, and investors turned out for the second annual Ag Innovation Showcase held at the Danforth Center on May 24–25, 2010, an increase

of more than 25 percent from its inaugural year. Sponsored in part by the BioResearch & Development Growth (BRDG) Park located on the Center’s campus, the showcase is an opportunity for emerging and established agricultural, plant and life science companies to present their advances in fields such as biofuels and biomass, animal heath, food and nutrition, environmental cleanup, and more.

THE PARK’S PRESENCE

ON THE CENTER’S CAMPUS IS PART OF OUR FOUNDING VISION TO IMPROVE THE

REGIONAL ECONOMY AND PROMOTE ST. LOUIS AS A WORLD CENTER FOR PLANT SCIENCE.

BRDG Park opened its first of three buildings in 2009 and fosters life science start-ups with the tools and facilities they need to achieve commercial success. The Park’s presence on the Center’s campus is part of our founding vision to improve the regional economy and promote St. Louis as a world center for plant science.

The centerpiece of the conference was a competition among emerging companies in the ag and plant science industries, with participants hailing from cities across the U.S., Canada, New Zealand, England, India and Malaysia. Following a very competitive application process, 17 entrepreneurial companies were selected to present and exhibit their technologies at the Showcase.

“This year’s selection of winning business plans represent some of the most promising businesses in the plant-tech space across a broad range of industry sectors and geographies,” said Sam Fiorello, COO and Vice President of the Danforth Center and President of BRDG Park.
