GR READS: THE MOVIES – SIN CITY Tuesday, July 19 8:00 pm Wealthy Street Theatre 1130 Wealthy Street SE Show your GRPL card to receive half-price admission ($3)

The Grand Rapids Public Library, the Meanwhile Bar and Wealthy Street Theatre present a special screening of Sin City. Although some moviegoers have denounced it as sick, sleazy, deplorably violent and downright repugnant, one critic says, “This isn’t an adaptation of a comic book, it’s like a comic book brought to life and pumped with steroids.” The directors have adapted three stories from the Sin City comic books by Frank Miller. The movie features a blighted urban landscape inhabited by compromised heroes, slimy villains, and sexy dames. As written and directed by Frank Miller and Robert Rodriguez, it’s “a visualization of the pulp noir imagination, uncompromising and extreme.”
