Pitchfork Music Festival

emerging acts. The three-day event, held in Union Park

P

in Chicago, is hosted annually by Pitchfork Media, an online music website that’s be- come the blue book of music reviews for the American Apparel-clad college crowd. While this year’s fest features perfor-

mances by Animal Collective, Fleet Foxes and TV on the Radio, Pitchfork, as always, mixes it up with acts like OFF! (hardcore punk), Odd Future (hip hop), the turntable works of DJ Shadow, and Das Racist (hip hop) – to name a few. Always respecting its elders, Pitchfork

also never fails to host a few veterans of the indie circuit. This year, Thurston Moore, Guided By Voices and Neko Case will take the stage. And for those who dig new wave sounds, a few synth-pop groups like Cold Cave, Cut/Copy, and Darkstar will perform. For music lovers who like to stay cur-

rent, this festival is a catch all of what’s cool in a spectrum of genres and, being in Chicago, it’s a mere day trip away for West Michigan folks. For more information, visit: pitchfork- musicfestival.com. —Rich Tupica
