who continually slander Republican legislative leaders who are fixing the mess they created.”

“Thumbs up to the New Hampshire legislature for all of their efforts to control spending and cut taxes.”

“Thumbs down to the PPD for both the

unlawful ‘safety checks’ that they force motorists to pass through and the most recent cruelty to animals incident. It appears that the department is in need of a management change.”

“Thumbs up to Chris Mader for coaching the

Majors Angels through a great season of baseball. Way to go, and thanks for everything!”

“Thumbs up to Rep Bates, Rep Okerman and

Ken Eyring for starting and coordinating the 912 group. Accurate information, a focus on the ethics of being an American and providing a great forum to discuss concerns and issues. It is people like you going above and beyond your elected jobs taking your personal time to guide and educate us that make me proud you are my representative. And Ken a special thank-you for stepping up as a private citizen. Big ‘thumbs up.’ Yes, I think we will need a larger meeting place soon!”

resolved. If we wait 5 or 6 years for state funding the increase cost of building will negate the state funding. While the cost of land & building are low let’s begin now not later. We can build a high school using a scaled down template while having the latest technology. Are the 60% voters prepared to vote YES for new high school in 2012 for our Pelham students? Will a 5th grade student today be able to attend a new high school in Pelham? Let the revolution begin! The work begins anew!”

“Thumbs down to the person

who complained in the June 17 ‘thumbs’ about the gunfire at the Pelham Fish and Game sounding like automatic weapon fire. It is full auto, burst and semi fire on the action ranges built for this reason. Law enforcement, military, and lawful civilians use Pelham to train and it wasn’t what you claim.”

“Thumbs down - Now that we heard all the opposition from Windham for a Pelham/Windham High School, I think that the Pelham high school hockey team should have their own Pelham Team and not partner with the Windham high school kids anymore.”

“Thumbs up to the 58.6% of Pelham voters

who voted in favor of a new high school in Pelham. You understand the importance of a quality education for our students and the need for a 21st century high school. The facilities committee stands by their findings of 2010, building a new facility is the most cost effective decision to solve all our schools overcrowding issue and give our schools 21st century technology. With a new high school the 7th &

“Thumbs down to the entries on 6/10 and 6/17 that think the whole high school issue is about getting a Taj Mahal built in Pelham - you are completely missing the point! You are right - it is the staff, teachers, students and parents that ensure a good education. And the fact that past students have gone on to good schools is a strong testament to that fact. However, the current Pelham High School facility is woefully

inadequate and downright unsafe! The state of NH will pull our accreditation if we do not address this problem. Build, renovate, or find another solution but stop sticking your heads in the sand hoping it’ll all just go away. If our high school loses its accreditation, what do you think will happen to this town? Property values will drop and taxes will skyrocket as businesses and residents leave in droves. Where will our children be then??”

“Thumbs up. I would like to respond to 2 ‘thumbs’ from last week. #1 the PHS is exactly 38 years old this year, built in 1973 opened in 1974 and 1st graduating class in 1978. #2 to the

comment regarding the paving of Rte 38. This is a state owned road and the state can pave it as it sees fit. Remember the people working on this road are hopefully shopping in our convenience stores and many Pizza joints. Let’s also remember that the amazingly bright people of Pelham voted down $261,000 to be offset by state funds (therefore free) for paving the town owned (Pelhamite owned) roads. Stop complaining, you get what you vote for!”

“Thumbs down.

Let’s see, if Pelham were 40 years old that means it would be 1971. At least some Pelham students (not sure if Pelham HS was built then) were attending Alvirne High School up until

June of 1973. Alvirne High School fire was early September of 1974. I know that because I spent 13 hours there!”

P “Thumbs down, way, way

down, for the heavy set guy who works at the Windham transfer station, he also has a disgusting number plate. He is excessively rude to the people who go there. The other day he walked toward his truck and it was close to lunch-time and he turned around and snarled at the little old lady for asking him where the glass bottles went. I think he needs to be removed from

the transfer station or given a lesson in manners.” “Thumbs down to certain Windham residents

who think they have to put up with the use of illegal fire works in their neighborhood. All it will take to put a stop to that inconsiderate, rude and child-like practice is an anonymous call to the Windham police department to report the guilty parties.”

“Thumbs up to Hollyann D!!! One of the six students in NH awarded the CEO scholarship from NHHEAF network in recognition of her leadership, academic achievement and community engagement. We are sooo proud of you and YES i am bragging!!! Nursing Nicely!!!

“Thumbs up to Pelham Residents for making

us Windham residents believers in Karma. Please do take the next logical step of seceding from SAU28 as 60% of the budget of SAU28 comes from Windham taxpayers while they only get back 40%.”

“Thumbs up. To the

speeches made at the Pelham High School graduation on June 17. Pelham High School may not be pretty, and we are small (138 graduates), but we are sending 80% of our graduating class on to higher education. The class contributed more than 10,000 hours of service to the community. I may be looking at the glass half full, but I think we should be very proud of the students who graduate from Pelham High School and the teachers who teachers who teach them.”

“Thumbs down. The town-

owned right-of-way off Castle Hill Road is shown as ‘public way’ on the town’s road maps and is a paper street in a 4-lot subdivision. Were the Pelham voters given accurate and sufficient information about what they would be voting on for Warrant Article 16?”
