Late Summer/Autumn Courses Programme

Following the success of our one-day General Sports Turf Maintenance courses over the spring, we are now finalising dates and venues for our late summer/autumn programme.

These courses are accredited by Lantra Awards, and are ideal for volunteer and part time groundsmen and greenkeepers as they give an overview of the processes, machinery and equipment used to create and maintain a quality playing surface.

Course numbers are limited in order that all delegates can become really involved. Although the course content is structured, the instructors deliver the training in an informal and interactive way, and welcome questions and discussion during the day. There is no practical work involved, because of constraints of time, but delegates do spend time out on the playing surface, considering and discussing its condition and the challenges faced by the host groundsman or greenkeeper.

Led by an experienced sports turf professional, the End of Season Renovations for Cricket courses will start towards the end of July and go through until September, when similar courses for maintaining bowls greens will get underway.

The Winter Sports (Rugby/Football) and Artificial Sports Surfaces courses will also be on offer in early autumn.

Course venues will be spread across the country according to demand, so if you register your interest by dropping me an e-mail with your contact details, home town and the sport(s) that interest you, we will endeavour to choose locations that are most convenient.

We particularly welcome group enquiries and can offer discounted fees for six or more delegates, so why not get a group of your local fellow groundsmen or greenkeepers together and take advantage of these favourable terms?

Personal Development Courses

Just a reminder that this winter we shall be repeating our annual Essential Management Skills course for Head Groundsmen and Greenkeepers and their Deputies.

This is a 2-day course, with three months between the two training days, which gives delegates the opportunity to implement their learning from day one back in the workplace, and bring case studies back to the table on day two.

The course is led by respected industry trainer, Frank Newberry, who has been helping grounds professionals to achieve their potential for over twenty years.

Just send me an email to register your interest or request further details.

Our popular course on Dealing With Difficult People and Situations will also be available in the autumn. Its aim is to equip those who regularly come into

contact with the general public during the course of their work with the skills necessary to avoid conflict and diffuse potentially difficult situations. Again led by Frank Newberry, the course is ideal for staff working on public areas, such as school sports fields, local authority amenity land, village or community sports facilities or play areas, golf courses, public parks and gardens, theme and leisure parks. We welcome enquiries from employers for group training, but public courses will also be available for individuals to attend.

Lastly, a reminder that we have a number of fully qualified First Aid instructors (some of whom are also paramedics) ready to deliver a range of First Aid courses including the 3-day First Aid at Work and the 1-day Emergency First Aid at Work, to corporate groups. Again, we can offer very competitive rates and would welcome the opportunity to quote for your particular

requirements.
