CROSSING BRIDGES: Brownie Troop 2312 forms a friendship circle as part of their recent Bridging Ceremony at Desert Breeze Park in Chandler. The Brownies also made stuffed animals at Girly Girlz and donated them to Andrea’s Closet, which provides toys, games and stuffed animals to sick children at numerous area hospitals.

High honors – Perry High School choral ensemble Belles Voix will perform at the Festival at Carnegie Hall in New York City. Under the direction of Joe Little, the group was awarded a Gold rating for a superior performance during the San Diego Heritage Festival, earning them an invitation to perform at Carnegie Hall in 2011 or 2012. Only select choirs, bands and orchestras are invited to perform in the world-renowned venue during the Festival at Carnegie Hall.
SUPPORT SHAVE, KISSES: The Navarrete community supported Jenny Willman, a Navarrete kindergarten teacher diagnosed with breast cancer, and her family with fundraisers including a T-shirt sale and a donation drive that raised more than $7,000. In return for raising more than $500, sixth-grade teacher Mr. Foote allowed students to shave his head. For raising $2,500, Mr. Cavanaugh, Mr. Cocking, Mr. Klein, Mr. McMahan and Mr. Meseroll also had their heads shaved. Principal Merrill, top photo, and Dean Cramer promised to kiss a pig if the school could raise $2,500. The students exceeded their goal, and all six teachers’ heads were shaved and pigs were kissed at a school-wide celebration for Willman held at the end of the school year.
