AZ Arts ASU Art Museum offers families fun
SanTan Sun area families are invited to Family Fun Day, hosted by the Arizona State University Art Museum from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sat., July 9, as part of the Museum’s 12th Annual Summer Family Exhibition, “Words of Art.” The event features art-making projects, performances and a visit from a PBS character from KAET Channel Eight.
“Words of Art” runs through Sept. 3, showing how the written word can be teamed up with a variety of visual arts. Hands-on activities throughout the exhibition inspire children through reading, writing and art. Admission to both the exhibition and Family Fun Day is free.

Greasepaint unveils upcoming season

29 Arts organization receives 20K grant
Nonprofi t arts and cultural organization Alliance for Audience is the recipient of a $20,000 grant from the Bank of America Foundation. The funds will be used for general operations and the launch of ShowUp for Veterans, a special ticket-discount program for active-duty and veteran military service members and their families. ShowUp for Veterans is a collaboration between Alliance for Audience and
VetTix.org, a Phoenix-based nonprofi t organization.
Since 2003, Alliance for Audience, under its statewide brand
ShowUp.com, has developed and operated programs and activities to increase audiences for arts and cultural performances and events throughout the state. ShowUp. com’s programs include the online Ticket Marketplace for last-minute discount tickets and special shows and Culture Pass, which offers passes at 30 public library branches for free admission to 14 Valley museums and cultural destinations.

Holly Lindberg, a Chandler voice coach and singer, is a finalist in the Lone Butte Casinos’ Lucky Break talent show. She and Phoenix resident, Nisha Kataria, who has recorded with Michael Jackson, are vying for a chance to audition with major record labels and a cash prize of $10,000. The final show of Lucky Break’s season five will air at 11:35 p.m. Sat., July 2 on KPHO-TV Channel 5, when this season’s winner will be revealed. Info:

Hear tunes from the Great American Songbook era as jazz comes to DC Steak House in downtown Chandler.
