SOTER VINEYARDS MINERAL SPRINGS PINOT NOIR 2008

(CARLTON, WILLAMETTE VALLEY, OREGON)

Napa Valley Veteran and founder of Napa’s Etude, Tony Soter headed to Oregon in the 1990’s to make “great Estate-grown Pinot Noir on my own terms.” The Mineral Springs Vineyard is situated on a picturesque hill in the Yamhill-Carlton district, planted on grainy, well drained sedimentary soils. It has the distinction in Oregon of being remarkably homogenous across the entire block. Viticulture has involved the planting of a number of different clones and a chemical free, hands-on approach. Aged for up to 15 months in 60% new oak, the 2008 Mineral Springs is a fragrant and plush wine that is bound to have universal appeal.

PENNER-ASH DUSSIN VINEYARD PINOT NOIR 2008

(NEWBERG, WILLAMETTE VALLEY, OREGON)

The scientifically minded Lynn Penner-Ash started this venture in 1998 with husband Ron. After several years involved in the Oregon scene, Penner-Ash was established to craft wines of distinction and personality. Single vineyard pinots are now made from 7 individual vineyard sites. The Dussin Vineyard situated in the Yamhill-Carlton sub region, surrounds the Estate and is planted on a mixture of sedimentary and red volcanic clays known as Jory. Dussin Vineyard contains a mixture of Dijon clones that provide components for a complete wine, with this wine taking full advantage of the superb 2008 Oregon season. Aged for 10 months in 35% new French oak, this wine is a classic representation of what Oregon can do; ripe, rich and tannic.
