Opua Marina Northland Top 10 Must Do’s 1 Twin Coast Discovery Highway


Although there is plenty to discover in Northland, we’ve made it very easy for you. Just follow the Twin Coast Discovery Highway, the circular touring route that lets you access all the region has to offer by way of a scenic relaxing drive.


2 The Poor Knights Islands


Off the Tutukaka Coast, the Poor Knights Islands Marine Reserve is a renowned divers’ paradise, but equally as appealing to snorkellers and kayakers. There are more than 50 dive spots around the islands - underwater arches and tunnels and the largest sea cave in the world.


3 Embrace Culture & Heritage


Northland is rich in a unique history that ties both Maori and non Maori people together. Historical sites and artefacts can be found throughout the region. Make sure you visit the Waitangi Treaty Grounds, the birthplace of New Zealand.


4 Aquatic Bay of Islands

5 Cape Reinga & 90 Mile Beach


Join a tour along 90 Mile Beach and toboggan down giant sand dunes at Te Paki Stream. Witness the meeting of the Tasman Sea and Pacifi c Oceans at Cape Reinga - a spiritual place for Maori where the spirits of the departed leap to begin the voyage back to their final resting place in the ancestral homeland.
