Take advantage of our great facilities and reputation, for fun or a qualification. Learn the basics of your digital camera or develop your photography skills further.

Photography qualifications Students travel from all over the South East to take part in our City & Guilds photography courses with other like-minded enthusiasts. We offer City & Guilds courses at two levels – both levels offer a good mix of theory and practical.

Level 2 A one year course, suitable if you have little or no experience. You will learn how to use the controls on a Single Lens Reflex (SLR) camera to help you to create an image; you will also gain experience of taking pictures in a range of situations both in the studio and outdoors, and knowledge of composition, image editing and presentation. The course is assessed by portfolio building and practical projects and has no written exam.

Level 3 A two year course suitable if you have completed Level 2 or have similar experience (please enquire). You will study a range of techniques for a variety of photographic subjects and will take and produce professional quality images. You will have opportunities to study the work of other photographers and to produce projects set by us and of your own choice. The course is assessed by portfolio building and practical projects and has no written exam.

Photography – short courses Our leisure courses aim to offer a wide range to suit all levels and interests. They start with the basic mastery of your camera, developing your practical photography skills, all the way through to processing and manipulating your images.
