Redecorating the Upper Room


In January, a group of volunteers - Pat Stancliffe, Paul


Revis, Kevin and Karen Patterson, Tim and Samatha Bailey, Paul Flavin, Helen Ryder, Sandy Symes David Lloyd and Derek Winterburn - armed with brushes and ladders, paint and carpet, redecorated the Upper Room, half-way up the tower.


After removing everything that had been stored there – and a large number of dead flies, they removed the old clock weights drop case

Many thanks are due to all who took part - and to Trudi Murray who provided some beautiful pictures to add a finishing touch to the welcoming room.


The Upper Room is now ready for use and the first people to benefit are COSMOS, who meet here on Sunday mornings, while Little Stars takes place in the Hansford Room.


Central to the message of the Bible is that God loves people, and that people of all ages, all abilities and all backgrounds matter deeply to him. That’s why we want the littlest people who come to St Mary’s to experience church as a great and enjoyable place to be!


As a mum of two children under 3years, I am also aware that parents sometimes need some time to themselves to reflect and listen in church, and so Little Stars also provides the

(no longer in use since the automatic winding had been installed), painted the walls, treated the floor for woodworm, laid new carpet tiles and filled in assorted draught holes. Terry Parker completed the renovation, installing a new light fitting and a wall heater.


Little Stars Crèche for 0’s to 3’s on a Sunday Morning! Anna Lloyd


In March we launched Little Stars at St Mary’s – a supervised crèche for 0 to 3 year olds which runs during the 11am Sunday service. It has been great fun!
