THERE IS HOPE...


I struggled to understand why God loves me or whether I even deserve His love until I understood the sacrifice our Lord Jesus paid for my sins. It is not enough to just skim read your bible, or regurgitating dogma without truly understanding who we are in Christ. I love writing for Bethel Magazine because it presents another opportunity to research and gain a better understanding of who I am. I would like to put forward that until we understand the totality of what Jesus giving up His life on the cross means for us, we will never truly grasp the love of the Lord.


But anyone who does not love does not know God, for God is love – 1 John 4:8 [NLT]


We know how much God loves us, and we have put our trust in his love. God is love and all who live in love live in God, and God lives in them. 17 And as we live in God, our love grows more perfect. So we will not be afraid on the day of judgement, but we can face him with confidence because we live like Jesus here in this world. – 1 John 4:16-17 [NLT]


Love is the foundational element in all our relationships with people and importantly God. We are required to live our lives just as Jesus did when He lived in this world. The world’s problems can be traced back to selfishness and the myth of individualism. We were created to work together as the body of Christ to benefit one another.


There are countless scripture that tells us to help each other, love each other and forgive as we are continually forgiven by God. Look around you and see the countless number of people struggling and ask yourself how you can be a blessing. To know God starts with learning to love, otherwise we will continue denying ourselves the blessings that come with being children of God.


Sin, insensitivity and mercilessness are so deeply entrenched in our society. We all have a responsibility to serve the communities we live in. It all starts with you making an effort to be better and it begins with an intimate knowledge of God. I do not want to present myself as all loving and caring, I can actually be
