My Happy Ending
I wanted to be the girl in a 1980’s movie. The one who got what she wanted in 98 minutes I wanted to live in the stillness of childhood problems Uplifting music conquering overwhelming oceans that attempted to drown me. A grand gesture at my door The rush of someone bursting through my door every time I quit. I wanted flawless words on command I wanted to be the clear protagonist To be someone’s first pick I yearned to be transformed into a swan To be extraordinary Everything molded into an evident shape. The one who is saved from an evil stepmother Whimsical adventures at every turn Ignored friend in tote Someone to notice my wounds. I wanted a safe haven One single thing to finally go right. I needed a memory left untainted A pot of morals at the end of my rainbows after every storm I wanted my misfortunes paid off in one night. One who got the guy and the college I wanted a satisfying ending
