“Thumbs down to the woman with two German shepherds in Benson Park on 5/28. Your dog came running up the trail at us, teeth bared, and growling and you were nowhere in sight. You need to have your dogs under control—if they are just going to take off and attack people, they need to be leashed. This is the second time this has happened. I no longer feel safe walking the trails in the park thanks to you. Anyone that goes walking in the park should make sure they have a weapon to defend themselves and don’t let your kids go there alone.”

“Thumbs up to Chooch! Congrats on another great year I am so proud of you, Love Mom”

“Thumbs down to being taxed for more than

the value of our homes these days. It is hard enough to keep our heads above water without paying through the nose for an amount we don’t own. Can we drop the evaluation by about 25% to 30%??? Most of our homes have a market value that is less than the mortgages we carry due to the devaluation. For so many years, people paid way under their value, and it was updated (raised). Can we, for once, have a break and roll it back?? Some of the money saved by the homeowners would surely be left at businesses in our town, who need a boost in revenue!!”

“Thumbs up to Coach Jason K for a great weekend on the soccer field Memorial Day Weekend and ‘thumbs up’ to the Litchfield Cougars U-12 Girls for some outstanding soccer to watch. What a great job girls!!”

“Thumbs down to the disrespectful woman

walking on Litchfield’s bike path Tuesday night, May 31. Do you understand that there are no ‘path rules’ requiring that walkers stay on the right-hand side of the path? You were given ample space to pass my husband and I when we had stopped with our dog, but instead

decided that you would push between us as we were evidently taking up ‘your’ lane. Please be considerate and respectful of others.”

“Thumbs up to the CHS

seniors. You have such a great class. Good luck in all your endeavors.”

“Thumbs up to

Boucher’s Greenhouse for generously donating fruit and vegetable plants to a first grade classroom! Your thoughtfulness is appreciated! The children are able to learn firsthand what plants need to grow and get the satisfaction of watching them grow! Thank you!”

“Thumbs up to the paving done around town. Fantastic job. Thank you! But please start paving Robinson Road. The potholes and frost heaves cause vehicles to swerve around them and with the twisty narrow roads, it’s a major accident just waiting to happen. We have come awfully close. Please do what you can, thank you!!”

“Thumbs up to Kelly

Goddu. What a great friend you are. Bringing a birthday cake for me, all the way to the soccer tournament in the ridiculous heat, knowing I was away from the rest of the family for the weekend to celebrate. Love ya! Jenn”

“Thumbs up to Rolling Stone Magazine,

FREE HAIRCUT (with ad) with ANY color service!

still kicking it old school! Earlier this year the annual Litchfield School District Fund Raiser was the selling of a pre-selected set of magazines. Rolling Stone, National Geographic, and Popular Science all started coming in the mail a couple of months ago. Rolling Stone has seen better days. Lady Gaga, The CARS ‘new’ album, ancient rockers meeting other geriatric rockers and their political attacks on those who dare to question Obama is simply pathetic. The other two aren’t much better. It really is no wonder that print media is dying. Hey Litchfield, how about meatball subs, film-a- thon, or a baking fundraiser next year?”

“Thumbs up, way up to Leia for graduating Magna cum laude at Quinnipiac University. Only 1 1/2 years remaining until you receive your Master’s in Occupational Therapy. Way to go girl; we are sooooooo proud of you. Love ya bunches!! Mom & Mike”

“Thumbs up to my bride, Mrs. D! As the song says: Life is an ocean, love is a boat; in troubled waters it keeps us afloat. When we started the voyage there was just me and you, now gathered around us we have our own crew. Together we’re in this relationship, we’ve built it with care to last the whole trip. Our true destination is not marked on any chart, we’re navigating for the shores of the heart. For 40 years you’ve been my wife. For 40 years you’ve shared my life. Love, Mr. D.”

“Thumbs up to Donna’s Place and their new seafood menu on Friday

afternoon’s and evening. My wife and I had the best seafood dinner we’ve had in a long time. It’s about time Hudson has a top notch seafood restaurant even if its only one day a week. Us old timers remember when Hudson had the best seafood in the area when Goodwin’s and the Meadows were open. Great Job!!”

“Thumbs down to the Litchfield Blast Manager getting praise with a ‘thumbs up’ for reaching 100 wins. I did not realize the girls had nothing to do with it and it was all because of him.”
