F Community Eventsriday, June 10 Pack 25 and Pack 610 are holding a benefit Spaghetti Dinner from 5-7:30 p.m. at St Patrick’s Clubhouse in Pelham. The proceeds from this joint fundraiser will be used to purchase a new Pinewood Derby Race Track and Timing System. The scouts have been using a borrowed system for the past two years and we are now in need of purchasing our own. Area businesses that would like to sponsor the event should contact
pack610nh@gmail.com. The new system is cost prohibitive for either pack and community support is needed. Tickets for the dinner are $5 each or $20 for a family of up to 5.
Saturday, June 11 MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) will hold a fundraising yard sale from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Crossroads Baptist Church, 46 Atwood Road, Pelham. Please come out and help support the 2011-2012 MOPS program. There will be many items from multiple families at this fundraising event, so come see what treasures you can find.
Monday, June 13 The American Red Cross will hold a Blood Drive at the Windham Presbyterian Church, 1 Church Road, Windham, from 1-6 p.m. Donation is easy—if you are healthy, at least 17 years old, weigh more than 110 pounds, and haven’t given blood in the past eight weeks, you can donate. Saturday, June 25 The Annual Pelham Strawberry Festival will be held at the Pelham Senior Center, 8 Nashua Road, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Come on down and enjoy a fun family event featuring great food, music, and entertainment; children’s games and activities, including a bounce house, balloons, and face painting; our annual basket raffles; and of course, our famous Strawberry Shortcake. The Penny Pincher Barn will be open with great bargains or for just browsing. A yard and book sale will also be held. Please bring non-perishable food items or household paper products as a donation to the food drive. Cash donations would also be greatly appreciated.
Pelham American Legion Post 100, located on Windham Road, would like to invite the public to attend its annual Sirloin Steak Barbeque Dinner from 2-6:30 p.m. in the Legion pavilion located behind the building. Dinner will consist of sirloin steak, salad, baked potato, and dessert. In addition, there will be raffles, music, and lots of fun. There is a cost for the dinner, which can be paid at the door. There will also be a cash bar.
Saturday, July 2 Windham Recreation’s Annual Town Day is set for Saturday, July 2, from noon to 3 p.m. at Griffin Park. The day begins with the Annual Tennis Games for all ages (kids through adults) at 10 a.m. Pre-register for this by contacting Lynn at 898-2881. Then, from 12-3 p.m., there will be bounce houses as well as a cookout (while supplies last). The Windham Community Band will be performing from 12:30-2 p.m. A bike parade for the kids, followed by family field games, will be held from 1-2:30 p.m. Don’t forget to decorate your bike, wagon, or stroller for the parade around the baseball field! The field games will consist of sac races, a water balloon toss, pie eating, and more! Everything at Town Day is free! Later that evening, beginning at 7 p.m., the Mill City Revival Band will perform outdoors at the High School, followed by the fireworks. Awards Dinner. The gourmet potluck event will begin at 6 p.m. at the Searles School with a BYOB cocktail hour. The evening will feature several awards, the installation of club officers for the 2011-2013 term, and the awarding of this year’s Nancy Surette Memorial Scholarships. Saturday, June 11 Come try your luck and have some fun at a good old-fashioned community festival on the beautiful lawns of Saint Patrick School, 16 Main Street, Pelham. The ninth annual Family Fun Day is back, and the fun all begins at 7 a.m. with a delicious pancake breakfast. Then, lace up your sneakers for the 5K Road Race at 9 a.m. (free tee-shirts to the first 100 entrants), followed by the Wacky Duck Race on Beaver Brook at 11 a.m. Adopt a duck and win some bucks! Register early as ducks may sell out. Duck forms can be obtained on the school website at
www.saintpatrickschool.net. Music, carnival games including the dunk tank, and grilled food will also be on hand from 9 a.m.–2 p.m., giving participants chances to win great prizes while enjoying a fresh grilled burger. Proceeds benefit the St. Patrick School.

T Seminars & Coursesuesday, June 28 The Pelham Public Library will offer another opportunity to take a certified Red Cross Babysitting Course from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Babysitter’s Training Course from the American Red Cross will teach you everything you need to be a great babysitter. This fun, interactive course teaches First Aid and safety skills so you can prevent and respond to emergencies. And, as a Red Cross-trained babysitter, you’ll gain the confidence and valuable employment skills to impress parents. The cost for this valuable program is $50 per participant and is due by Monday, June 20, and checks may be made payable to Pelham Public Library. Participants should be at least 11 years old. Please bring a snack and lunch and the library will provide drinks and dessert. Pre- registration is necessary for this very popular course and the class is quickly filling up. All combine for fast-paced, 60- minute, high-energy classes guaranteed to improve your agility, power, speed, quickness, and endurance. Sunday, June 12 The Windham Rail Trail Alliance is excited to announce that its fourth annual Flat ‘n Fast 5K Road Race and Walk on this picturesque paved rail trail is set for June 12. This is a point-to-point USATF (NH10032RF) certified race starting from the Roulston Road entrance at 8:30 a.m., with a fun walk starting immediately after the last runner. The race is organized in conjunction with the Windham Recreation Department, with chip timing provided by Granite State Timing. Online registration is available on www.
coolrunning.com and forms are available at various locations in Windham, and on the WRTA Website at www.windhamrailtrail. org. Race day registration will be held from 7-8 a.m. Parking and same-day registration is available at Taylor’s Bingo Hall, with a free shuttle bus bringing participants to the start point at Roulston Road, with the finish at the Windham Depot, Depot Road, Windham. The first 225 runners will receive a tech race shirt. First male/female finishers will receive a $50 prize, and there will also be age group awards and a free raffle for participants. Food and refreshments will be served after the race.
Saturday, June 18, and Sunday, June 26 Pelham Youth Baseball’s “Best of the Best” will take the field on Saturday, June 18, and Sunday, June 26. With over 350 registered participants, Pelham Baseball restructured the league in 2011 to ensure fair play and a safe environment for our kids to play baseball. With those goals successfully accomplished, we are proud to announce our flagship events that will be held over the next two weekends at Muldoon Field. “Town Championship Saturday” will be held on June 18, with the AAA (a division of Majors) Championship game being held at 4 p.m.; and the Majors Championship Game will be held at 7 p.m. under the lights! Then, an “All-Star Sunday” will be held on June 26, with the AA/Minors Championship game on the Minors field at 1:30 p.m.; the AA/Minors All-Star game on the Minors field at 4 p.m.; the AAA All-Star game on the Majors field at 4 p.m.; and the Majors All-Star game on the Majors field at 7 p.m. under the lights!
Monday, June 27 The second annual Windham High School Boosters Golf Tournament will be held at the Windham Country Club, 1 Country Club Drive.
