Populous made good on all our specific needs and ‘wants’for the‘new’ballpark, including more suites and clubs, more fan and family amenities, and continuity for our iconic fountains and Crown scoreboard. We’ve had overall satisfaction with the new ballpark that has drawn raves from players, fans and press since the inaugural season in 2009, with increased attendance and revenue in both seasons...

we’vebeen able to sharewith them the result of their input. Thereaction so far from all of those groups has been tremendous. “Our fans love the Hall of Honor, which is aworking concourse so it will be open year-round. On game day, the area is full of fans who can interact with the exhibits and really re-livetheir favouritemoments from Chiefs history. We've seen a similar reaction to our Chiefs Sports Lab,which is an educational, interactiveareafor
kids.It can be used for field trips year round, but on game day it is open as part of the fan experience."

Dennis Wellner,P, Principal in Charge for Populous on the Arrowhead Stadium project, advised: “Based on the parameters from the Chiefs, we looked at most new sta- diumsinthe US. This is agood starting point, as venues either go from circular to ‘purpose build’for baseball or football. Arrowhead was ahead of its time as the pur- pose-built stadium was really an early ‘90s phenomenon, but both Arrowhead and Kauffman opened in the early ‘70s idealised for each sport.
Design Team Input: The Architect rincipal
rPopulous “The budget concept is alwaystohaveabrand-new
look, but keep costs in sight. The seating bowl was ideal forfootball but amenities did not measureup. We did not need a new building but used the very sound Arrow- head structureasanideal starting pointfromafootball perspective. The early issue for us was how to treat the existing architecture to do something that fits comforta- bly, as with Kauffman. Our two project teams set some design goals for the overall Truman Sports Complex. They served different purposes and with a different scale, and while still alive, owner Lamar Huntsigned off on both concepts. “From there, Clark Hunt took over and dealt with our
design and development of all areas of Arrowhead. After his initial concern that it would be‘brand new’, at the end ➲
