Summer Celebrations David Oxtoby
On Sunday July 3rd David
Oxtoby will be made a Presbyter (Priest) in the Church of England at Lincoln Cathedral by the Bishop of Grimsby. It is amazing to think that a year has passed since David and Christina arrived here and I hope that a number of us will be able to join them at the Cathedral to celebrate with them on this important occasion. David is being authorised by the Church to exercise a ministry of local o v e r s i g h t

congregation, working with the other clergy at St George’s and in our local deanery. His ordination authorises him to preside at the Lord’s Supper (Holy Communion) alongside those activities of preaching, teaching and pastoral work that he has already engaged in. David is being prepared through his curacy with us to eventually take on his own parish or group of parishes and this service is an important mile stone for him on that journey.
We have booked the Christ Church mini bus which can take 17 (including the driver) so that we can take a group up to Lincoln for that morning. Could you please let Anne know in the office if you would like to come to support David on his special day and require a lift in the
Manager for the social projects and Paul Darley will be licensed as a lay reader as he is on the preaching and leading team at Christ Church.
Eric Mival has produced a great DVD outlining the growing partnership between Christ Church and St George’s and there will be an opportunity to view this before the service begins. Christ Church would love to welcome you to the event so please do come if you can.

Christ Church Official!
On the evening of June 15th
I will be officially
licensed as the ‘Priest in Charge’ at Christ Church and I warmly invite you to come and join in this special occasion which the Bishop of Grantham will lead. Although I have been responsible for looking after Christ Church from January this year, this is the official licensing and authorising for what is already happening. Mike Mills will also be welcomed in some way by the diocese who have employed him as the Operat ions
Wittering are looking forward to having a new vicar from September 4th when the Barnack group will welcome him at his induction by the Bishop of Peterborough at 6pm. At present we continue to look after a weekly all age congregation at Wittering with Simon Kaye leading the work. As Simon prepares to go to Theological college in September we will need to talk through how we can be s t suppor t Wittering once the new vicar is in post.
Please keep all the above in your prayers asking that the Lord’s purposes may go forward in each situation and with each person involved.
