Guitar classes at McKnight Guitar Company starting


Summer group guitar classes are open for registration at McKnight Guitar Company in Chandler for youth ages 6 to 12 and 13 years and older. Beginning guitar classes meet for an hour once a week for four weeks, and no materials or guitar are needed.


The next sessions for ages 6 to 12 run from noon to 1 p.m. Mon., June 6, 13, 20 and 27; 4 to 5 p.m. Tue., June 7, 14, 21 and 28; and from 11 a.m. to noon Sat., June 4, 11, 18 and 25.


For those 13 years and older, the next sessions are noon to 1 p.m. Wed., June 8, 15, 22 and 29; 4 to 5 p.m. Thu., June 9, 16, 23 and 30; and 3 to 4 p.m. Sat., June 4, 11, 18 and 25, although that session is almost full. The four- week session is $80. In addition, a “Rock Band Class” runs from 6 to 7 p.m.


starting Wed., June 8, and all ages are welcome on vocals, drums, guitar, bass and keyboard. McKnight Guitar provides all amps, drums, cables, keyboards and PA; just bring a guitar.


Weekly classes are $80 for four sessions.


There are also private half-hour lessons with 15 teachers available on a monthly basis for $100, which take place in the seven private practice rooms. Lessons are included with a guitar purchase.

Basketball camps at Chandler high schools


SanTan Sun area youths have two basketball camps to choose from this summer. The Basha High School program for boys and girls entering second through eighth grades runs June 6 through 9 in the Basha High small gym and June 13 through 16 in the Basha High main gym. Second- through fourth-graders meet from 9 to 10:30 a.m. daily each week, and fi fth- through eighth-graders meet from 10:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. daily each week.


The camp features training in offensive skills, defensive fundamentals, team fundamentals and competitions. Participants should dress in shorts, T-shirts and tennis shoes and should bring water to drink. All campers receive age-appropriate instruction and a camp T-shirt.


The cost is $65 for one session or $100 for both sessions. All proceeds benefi t the Basha High girls’ basketball program. No cash payments are accepted; payments by check or money order can be made in person at the Community Education Center located at 1525 W. Frye Rd. in Chandler. Walk-ins are not permitted. The Hamilton Basketball Camp teaches boys and girls fundamental basketball skills June 6 through 9 and June 13 through 16.


The camps are open to students entering kindergarten through eighth grades. Hamilton High School is located 3700 S. Arizona Ave. in Chandler. Chandler Wolves host volleyball camp


Learn the fundamentals of volleyball during the Chandler High Wolves Junior High Volleyball Camp taught by the school’s girls’ volleyball team from 5 to 8 p.m. June 20 through 22 and 24 in the Payne Gym at CHS.


Youths in sixth- through ninth-grade are invited to participate, and campers receive a T-shirt. The fee is $75, and the money helps raise funds for the Chandler High girls’ volleyball team.
