Guided Lizard Walk, 8 a.m. Boyce Thompson Arboretum. Desert ecology educator “Wild Man Phil” leads the way to colorful and comical lizards along a 1.5-mile trail. Learn why some Arizona lizards do pushups, why some have blue bellies, how Spiny Lizards can grow as big as bratwursts and more. See Phil’s native critter collection, too. Mighty Mud Mania, 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Chaparral Park. The event offers a Mini- Mud course for ages 6 and younger, featuring Mudville for sandcastle building and mud puddle play; a mini mud obstacle course; and mud pits. Older kids ages 7-17 can participate in the original mud obstacle course with water slides, giant mud pits, rope swings and sand castle building. Children must wear T-shirts and lace-up or Velcro shoes; sandals and flip-flops are not permitted. Scottsdale firefighters will provide a “kidwash” and portable showers to clean off muddy children.
