The Bridge © Godmanchester Community Association 2011
We are all enjoying the new facilities. The new classrooms are bright and airy. Year 4 children can take advantage of some of the best views of the town from their upstairs rooms, and staff and children alike appreciate the new corridor behind the main hall.
Now that the new walls are painted and coat pegs and lockers are in place, some superb new art work from every year group is on display throughout the school.
Our newly installed bike and scooter shelter is sited next to the swimming pool. This was built 12 years ago on the site of the original outdoor pool. The pool is currently managed by First Strokes, who provide lessons for the school and public sessions for the community.
Last June we took part in the official opening of the new Chinese Bridge (School records show that in 1960, Class I attended the opening of the last Chinese Bridge!) This time, children from both schools waved paper dragons, and floated Chinese Junks whilst the beat of the dragon drum created a real carnival atmosphere
Next year we will be involved in the town’s celebrations for the 800th
of Godmanchester’s First Charter. The official opening of the Sure Start Children’s Centre was on 31st
next chapter of our school. Shirley Brown, Community Secretary
