The Festival has always valued high quality photography and this year is no different. The two visiting photographers who will take up residence in Birmingham are Merlin Daleman from North Brabant in Holland and London-based Robert Piwko. Merlin is a leading Dutch freelance who has twice won The Silver Camera Award for Best Documentary Photographer [2006 & 2008]. A graduate of The Royal Academy of The Arts in The Hague, he is a regular contributor to daily newspaper NRC Handelsblad and NRC Next. Robert, who is from Poland, has become established in the UK and has built his impressive reputation on a portfolio of arts photography, theatre, opera, circus, rock – and of course, Jazz.
