or displaced into India, many sold to Indian circuses. Specifi cally, we are currently funding the cost of a jewellery and craft workshop in Nepal with a donation of £4000, which is designed to give valuable skills to some of the young adults supported by Esther Benjamins Trust. Namaste founder Sam Brummitt recently ran the London Marathon for the Trust and raised a further £5000.
Having said of all which, we
reckon our efforts are in vain if we do not adopt a friendly, no nonsense approach to business. This stretches from designing and originating products that sell and sell right through to our friendly Yorkshire based sales team. We have excellent stock availability and administration.
The vast majority of our customers
are independent shops. We pride ourselves in understanding their problems and needs. Some are fair trade specialists, but by no means all. Increasingly, garden centres, visitor attractions, zoos and museums are featuring our products. The British Museum, Alton Towers and Chessington World of Adventure all buy from us. We strive to offer appealing and well-designed products that we know sell as strongly on the high street as in specialist outlets. We think we are just about the
nearest thing to a fairly traded one- stop-shop! Our range is not simply
large, it’s wide. So we can supply you with furniture, textiles, gifts, fragranced goods, jewellery and clothing. Namaste’s huge product offer combined with the multiple levels of discount structure allows retailers to buy more from Namaste, keep supplier numbers down while maximising buying power and discounts to keep margins up. The 5% discount for payment at time of despatch by credit or debit card has proved very popular and so has the further 5% discount for cash and carry orders. Add a further 5% for orders over £750 and this really starts to stack up. Discounts can be added together so that a customer who spends £2500 [which is not at all diffi cult given the sheer width of the ranges on offer] will get 15% off as a minimum. If they pay by card this increases to 20% and if they carry the goods away with them they benefi t from a massive 25% off the bill! Ordering is easy and orders can be placed several ways:
Large, well-organised and relaxed
showroom and cash and carry in the lovely North Yorkshire market town of Skipton on the edge of the beautiful Yorkshire Dales National Park. Many customers take advantage of this and combine a visit to Namaste with a holiday or short break in the Yorkshire Dales or Lake District National Parks. An extra 5% discount applies to cash and carry orders.
Recycled enamelled aluminium salad bowl
Full set of free and beautifully designed colour catalogues. These come complete with prices so that there is no annoying separate price lists. Prices are coded allowing smaller retailers to show the catalogues to customers and then place orders with Namaste on a regular basis. More and more customers are
placing orders on Namaste’s website which is easy to use and constantly updated.
If you are visiting Harrogate, do come and see us in Skipton at our showroom. We promise a warm welcome, lunch and all day refreshments. And we are only 30 minutes drive from Harrogate if you take the dramatic drive over the Pennines on the A59. We will have extended opening hours so please check with us. And the showroom invitation lasts all year; we would love to see you! Of course, you can order on our website and you can phone or email us to receive a free set of our inspirational catalogues.
