Otterbine expands diffused air system offering
Standard & Module Systems Now Available, Including 2-Dome and 1-Dome Diffuser Manifolds for Increased Flexibility
About the course
Referred to as “the best natural piece of land for a golf course,” the Bear Trace at Harrison Bay features Bermuda fairways lined with soaring pine and hardwood trees. Although water touches 12 fairways, there is more than sufficient room to hit safely. Most greens are open in front, which makes the course more user-friendly for high-handicap players and allows run-up shots. Fairway and green side bunkers are designed in the tradi- tional Nicklaus fashion and add notable character to the overall integrity of the course. Like other courses in the collection, the emphasis on play- ability is clearly evident. The Bear Trace at Harrison Bay stretches from 7,140 yards (gold tees) to just under 5,300 yards (red tees).
The Bear Trace Golf Course at Harrison Bay has been designated as a “Certi- fied Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary” by Audubon International. Bear Trace at Harrison Bay is also designated as a Groundwater Guardian Green Site as a result of the groundwater-friendly practices implemented at the golf course.

Otterbine Barebo Inc. expands their Air Flo 2 dif- fused air system product line by releasing 2-dome and 1-dome diffuser manifold options to the original 4-dome option. With the release of the 2-dome and 1-dome diffuser manifolds, module Air Flo 2 systems are available through Otterbine allowing customers the unique opportunity to cre- ate custom Air Flo 2 systems.
Understanding the efficiencies of diffused air systems Although highly effective in ponds and lakes with depths of 6ft–40ft (2m- 12m), there is a direct correlation between performance efficiency and depth of operation in diffused air systems. In essence, the greater the depth the more efficient a system will be.
To illustrate, diffused air systems pump air to diffusers at the pond bottom that is released as a column of air that widens as it travels up through the water column. When air is released at deeper depths, more oxygen is trans- ferred throughout the water due to a larger area coming in contact with air for a longer duration. In shallower applications there is less opportunity for oxygen transfer due to less area and contact time occurring as air travels up from the pond bottom. In order to achieve the same aeration at shallower depths it is necessary to spread additional manifolds across the pond bot- tom.
Due to varying depths in most ponds and lakes, Otterbine’s Air Flo 2 Module Systems permit the user to achieve maximum performance efficiencies by determining and placing properly sized manifolds at appropriate locations based off the depth and need of aeration throughout the water feature.
Features of Otterbine’s Air Flo 2 diffused aeration system Include:
• Energy efficient • Corrosion resistant • No electrical connections in the water – safe for recreation ponds • Choice of self-cleaning dome diffusers (4-dome, 2-dome or 1-dome configurations) or traditional air stone diffusers

About the course
Conceived by a group of local golfers intent on building a private club in their own community, The Valley Club opened as the first and only private country club in the Wood River Valley in June, 1996. The Club’s founders envisioned creating a community of friends and families centered on their shared passion for golf and recreation. The Club has since evolved into a destination attracting both local families and members from across the continent and around the world. Twenty-three states and five countries are represented in the diverse membership of The Valley Club.
In 1999, the members acquired the Club from the original developers. The Club operates as a member-owned, not-for-profit country club governed by an elected board of directors. Mindful of the expanding needs of the membership, the Club acquired 117 acres of adjacent property in 2003 and retained renowned architect Tom Fazio to design a nine-hole addition to the existing course. Construction of the West Nine was completed in the fall of 2006 and opened for play in summer of 2007.
The Valley Club is located in Hailey, Idaho Course Superintendent, Cameron Lloyd Designed by Hale Irwin (North and South nine) Tom Fazio (West nine)
