REAL WEDDINGS | Kylin & Jordan
How did you two meet? We attended the same church briefly for a summer back in 2007. We became friends on Facebook, and kept in touch. In May of 2009, we started e-mailing more, decided to meet again in person, and almost immediately started dating. We lived an hour and a half away from each other until we got married! The distance was hard. Jordan worked full time and I was a full time student, so we only saw each other consistently on the weekends. Planning a wedding, and a marriage, was difficult with the distance, but we managed! It’s been almost 6 months since the wedding, and we couldn’t be happier to see each other every day.
How long was your engagement? 10 months. December 19, 2009-October 10, 2010. He proposed on a snowy morning in the Starbucks we had our first date, with my great grandmothers ring.
What inspired your wedding theme? We both love antique stores, Frank Sinatra records, Fred and Ginger movies, and 1960’s décor. So choosing a vintage theme was easy. We also wanted us and our guests to feel comfortable and relaxed at our wedding, so choosing outdoors, the girls to wear flats, the guys to wear jeans, and other little casual touches really helped with that.
What inspired your wedding color pallet? We love the outdoors and autumn, but we didn’t want it to look like a harvest party. We thought pale green and brown captured the fading Midwest summer feel we love.
What was special about where you got married? We got married in a park in Terre Haute, IN which is where I grew up and Jordan grew up about 20 minutes away. There is a beautiful rose bush garden inside the park that features an amazing piece of art. It’s actually a huge, cement labyrinth. It’s a very spiritual place. The sign located outside of the 80’ wide circular labyrinth encourages you to walk the circle silently and meditate. Jordan and I walked it once, ended up in the middle facing each other, and something told us that was the place to exchange vows. I had it booked the next day! We had our guests seated in a circle, surrounding us to symbolize that they all were behind us on this decision, and they all embraced us. It felt like getting a big hug from our family and friends.
