Flo & Brad

What was special about where you got married? The venue was a wonderful mix of contemporary raw concrete with a very clean look but it also had a lot of rich wood which helped soften the feel which fit perfectly with the modern but comfortable feel we wanted, Novelty Hill-Januik Winery was absolutely perfect. The venue itself has a very contemporary feel, combining rich woods, great pops of color and a touch of industrial, which created the perfect look for our ceremony and reception.

What do-it-yourself projects did you do? We had a table set up to display our wedding favors which we made with the help of our wedding party. Each guest received a bag with several home made chocolate mint cookies that Flo baked (black & green). They were individually wrapped with our names and wedding date on the outside. To make it an extra special treat we displayed them with individual servings of milk: regular, chocolate and strawberry. The table was set with personalized green napkins. A friend had given us a stamp that said "from the kitchen of Flo Hettle" (my married name) for my bridal shower so we stamped each napkin to go along with the display so everyone would know they were home made! The arch was made by Brad out of oak (to match the wine barrels). The “Save the Dates” were designed by one of Brad’s friends. Brad designed and made the place holders and cut the corks to hold them up. The programs were also designed and made by Brad.

What advice do you have for other brides? Research. Take the time and meet with at least three vendors before signing. We did a lot of research in figuring out where we wanted to have the ceremony and reception before we found the perfect place with the perfect events director that worked at the venue. We lucked out and met who would be our photographers at our best friends wedding and fell in love with them. Finding people you know and can trust makes all the difference in the world. Your wedding day is going to fly on by, take a few minuteswith you and the groom to enjoy the moment knowing that the pieces are in place and that your friends, family and various vendors, etc. will make it all happen.
