How did you two meet? My husband and I met at a local bar in Santa Barbara, California. Now it wasn’t complete chance that we meet. My roommate at the time and Blake’s best friend were coworkers who had decided to meet after work for a drink. Both were unsure if they were interested in dating the other, thus they both brought a friend to make it less like a date. While playing a round of darts, we hit it off. He asked me out on a date and the rest is history.
How long was your engagement? We were engaged for a year and three months. After 5 years together, we figured why not take our time with the engagement and really plan out the wedding we wanted.
What inspired your wedding theme? I didn’t have a particular inspiration for our wedding theme, but I did want to make sure that the wedding reflected our easy going, fun loving style.
What inspired your wedding color pallet? Since we had decided on having a September wedding I immediately thought fall colors would be the best. Fall colors offer a great variety and I believe the darker colors with bright accents are flattering for most people and most things.
What was special about where you got married? We got married at our local community center. We could walk to it from our house and it was the deal of the century to rent it. We got the location for just $300, which included 3 days, 150 chairs, and 20 tables. There was a great indoor area for dancing, a kitchen area for the caterers, and a large outdoor patio & grass area. We were able to have both our ceremony and reception in one spot.
What was behind the design of your cake? The cake design was created entirely by my husband’s 15 year old sister. She has been baking cakes since she was 10 and we wanted to give her a chance to do what she loves. She came up with the shape and design based on the flowers we chose for my bouquet.
