Dallas & Rob

What do-it-yourself projects did you do? My mom is a great baker so together we made about 200 little pies to give out as favors. My mom also took on the chal- lenge of making my wedding cake. It was great because I got to really express exactly what I wanted for my cake and she was willing to make any adjustments to make it perfect for the day. We also gave out flip flops to the guests so we made tags to show the size of all the pairs. Decorating the church was entirely up to us so we made swags to go across the front of the church and floral arrangements that were at the ends of the pews. I thought it would be nice to person- ally make my bridesmaids’ gifts. My friend works at Color Me Mine so she was able to show me unique ways to paint little ceramic jewelry boxes for my girls. I then made them necklaces and earrings to go with their dresses and put them in the boxes.

What advice do you have for other brides? Try to take time to focus on the finishing touches. I think it’s the little details in a wedding that make it all so special. I wanted the wedding and reception to be very personalized to really show who Rob and I are and I think we accom- plished that. Enjoy the planning process because all that effort really is worth it. Most importantly, on your wedding day, don’t worry if little things go wrong. My makeup didn’t turn out exactly how I wanted it, our guests were served apple cider rather than sparkling cider for the toast, and I couldn’t find my throwing bouquet. In the end none of that mattered and it was the best day of my life.
