What do-it-yourself projects did you do?

Because of time limitations I wasn't able to do as many projects as I might have otherwise, but I was still able to do a few things myself, and was really happy with the results.

Bookmarks-These were our wedding favors. I ordered the basic metal bookmark piece from ebay and bought the beads from Joanne's. It was a simple craft, and besides saving us money, it made the gift more personal and meaningful.

Center Pieces-The location didn't need very much decorating, but we made center pieces for the tables. I went to the thrift store and found 13 vases, all a little different; then I bought ivory candles and pebbles from Ikea, and some blue and green glass pebbles from a dollar store. Also, I had quite a few blue and green silk flower petals from Michael's and Ebay that lined the aisle as well as added to the center pieces.

Ceremony Programs-I was really pleased with how the programs turned out. I only used Microsoft Word and had them printed at a local printer, but you don't have to use fancy software to get good results; I found two fonts that I loved and

had used for the invitations that fit well with the theme and feel of the rest of the wedding. Instead of handing out the favors at the reception we tucked them into the programs, which added a nice touch.

What advice do you have for other brides? Make it your Groom's wedding too, not just yours. Granted, he might not want to be a part of every aspect, but don't get so wrapped up in what you want that you forget that this day is about both of you. Keep everything in perspective, let others help you, and remember to take time to invest in your relationship with your fiancé - you are getting married after all. We went through some marriage preparation counseling with our pastor and it was very helpful.
