REAL WEDDINGS | Paige & Jacques
How did you two meet? We met at Bodenseeh of Bible School in southern Germany in September, 2009. We became friends very quickly, and it was- n't long before we both knew that we were ready to start a serious relationship. We officially started dating on October 17th, one month after we met, and it was only five months later that Jacques proposed.
How long was your engagement? We were engaged for only four months; Jacques had been accepted at Regent College, a graduate school of theology, and was planning on starting his studies there in the fall. Hence, we only had a small window of time in which to get married and move to Vancouver. I was initially worried about having such a short amount of time to plan our wedding, but so many things came together smoothly and quickly. You really can plan a wedding in four months!
What inspired your wedding theme? The location and my dress had a great deal to do with setting the tone for the rest of the wedding; once those details were in place, the phrase "simple elegance" became my motto. Also, a love of Victorian fashion and architecture and of a clean, modern look inspired me. I tried to combine these in a classic look. Old books also gave me quite a bit of inspiration though we never ended up using any in the decor (aside from the ones that were already at the mansion).
What inspired your wedding color pallet? My favorite color has been green for many years, and I'd known for a long time that the main color of my wedding would be green; it's a fresh, clean, and happy color and brought that element of "clean and modern" to the vintage look in a tasteful way. Jacques' favorite color is blue, so we simply combined these two colors. I decided to use all ivory, instead of white, to go with the vintage feel.
What was special about where you got married? We had our ceremony and reception at the Gale Mansion, which is located in Minneapolis, MN. It was a beautiful and elegant location that needed very little extra decorating. I grew up in Minnesota, so it was special that we married there before moving so far away.
