REAL WEDDINGS | Kimberly & Frank

What was special about where you got married? We got married at the magnificent Intercontinental Montelucia Resort & Spa in Scottsdale, Arizona. It is located in Paradise Valley at the base of Camelback Mountain. The resort is an enchanting romantic place that captivates Spanish & Moorish architecture. This beautiful resort is where many famous people come to stay including the President and Vice President of the United States.

What do-it-yourself projects did you do? Gifts to wedding party - I embroidered my wedding shoe bag with my new name Mrs. Calise on it. My gifts to the bridesmaids and flower girls were personalized tote bags full of gifts for the wedding. On the front of them I embroidered their names/designs on them in silver and purple thread. (My sister and I have a baby embroidery business online called bambinoboutique.com and this is how I was able to embroider and design all my gifts.)

Favors -My favors were picture frames that I painted silver with our engagement photo in it. I had ribbons personalized with our names and wedding date tied in bow on the top of frame.

Wedding Programs -The programs for the ceremony were simple ivory cardstock folded into threes. I used a pretty computer design and printed our names in the middle of it for the cover and inside was all the wedding party info.

Menus - Same ivory cardstock, printed all the info and glued crystals on the paper. The venue placed them in a folded napkin placed on each dinner plate.

Table Numbers - I used metallic silver/purple cardstock with damask pattern on the paper and then I printed the numbers on them and then glued crystals on them. Also, I purchased about one hundred glass candle votives to be placed around the centerpieces and table numbers. This gave the room a beautiful romantic feel with all the flickering candlelight, and it was very budget friendly.

What advice do you have for other brides? My advice for brides is to be a little creative on their own. They do not have to go and have outside vendors to create all the little things and spend a fortune. With a little brainpower and elbow grease you can create some beautiful details for your wedding that people will not forget. Go to your local craft store and find craft paper or fabric with patterns that interest you. Also, I would pick the colors that you’ve always loved and be sure to incorporate them in the entire theme of the wedding. My damask paper was my inspiration for my little details for my elegant and traditional wedding theme. Furthermore, do not let anyone try to persuade you into something different. Envision your wedding as if you were already there, and most importantly don’t stress and enjoy the biggest event of your life!!
