The Royal Horseguards Hotel The AA ‘Bed & Brea
The best of British B&Bs were celebrated on 16 May at the annual AA Bed and Breakfast Awards 2011, at a champagne lunch in the historic Gladstone Library in The Royal Horseguards Hotel in London (above). The B&B Awards recognise all establishments under the “Guest Accommodation” category including B&Bs, guest houses, guest accommodation, farmhouses, inns and restaurants with rooms.
The AA has been recommending places to stay since 1908, and the B&B Awards event is a branch of the AA’s Hospitality Awards, which cover all AA-inspected and rated hotels, restaurants, and B&Bs.
They recognise “all-round excellence, unfailing standards and outstanding service”, as well as acknowledging the vital role played by those individuals who work to maintain the highest of standards within the industry.
Winners were announced for the AA “Guest Accommodation of the Year” for England, Scotland, Wales and London, as well as “Funkiest B&B of the Year” and
the ever popular “Friendliest Landlady of the Year”, and were awarded prize decanters provided by Villeroy & Boch.
Simon Numphud of the AA said “The AA is delighted to recognise and reward such deserving individuals and their establishments, whose standards of hospitality and service are truly exemplary.”
