“Thumbs up to the writer who lauded State Reps for trying to stop ‘double dippers’ -- public workers who retire and collect a pension only to land another job. The writer missed Salem’s ultimate ‘double dipper’ -- the Rockingham County sheriff who left the police department on full disability and is now in Brentwood collecting his pay and pumping up a pension. These people obviously have no pride and we must share some blame. After all, he was elected to office.”

“Thumbs down to all the drivers that follow too close to the vehicle in front. For some reason, this concept is NOT getting to many drivers. They have no idea they cannot stop in time. These drivers or passengers will be spending time in the hospital, body shop, or worse, and their insurance rate will be raised because someone never taught them safe braking distance or they never got stopping

you ever have to say at the Board meetings is ‘my concern’ over and over again. If you’re burdened with so many concerns stay home.”

“Thumbs up to the Salem

School District - great job on the renovations! Wow, those schools are making progress and looking great. It will be great to see those completed and the next

three elementary schools started next year, hopefully. Keep it going, Salem, we’re making progress.”

“Thumbs up to the person who wrote in

saying some of the Salem school personnel are in complete denial that there are problems. Whether it be policy or teachers, this couldn’t be more true!!”

“Thumbs down to Planning Board Chair

Keller for allowing Mr. Gray’s replacement to vote on projects brought forth by Mr. Gross of MHF Design. Regardless of their longtime friendship, Mr. Gross resides with the guy’s father-in-law! How can that not be a conflict?”

“Thumbs down to the people who take their dogs on the soccer fields, and let them poop without bothering to clean it up. What is wrong with you? Our kids deserve to not be stepping in dog poop. Please be respectful of other people and obey the rules - no dogs allowed on the soccer fields!”

distance figured out. If you have kids ready to get their license, or young drivers in your family, or a family member, relative or someone you know...that follows too close at any speed ... tell them or show them this right now before it is too late!!”

“Thumbs down Selectman Campbell. All

“Thumbs down - It’s the American way to allow any corporation to make a profit. But when a company is making a high obscene profit subsidized with my tax dollars - that’s unfair and un- American. Congressman

Bass I thought you represented me, not the oil companies. Your vote disappointed me, my vote in the next election will disappoint you.”

“Thumbs up to my twin!”

“Thumbs up to the people who cared enough to attend the second deliberative session and

vote for fixing our roads. Hopefully the bond will pass next year and we’ll fix more of them that are in such desperate need. It is so good to see these roads getting fixed. Let’s keep this

progress going. Salem needs to keep moving forward - we deserve better.”

“Thumbs up to New Hampshire! As the Massachusetts Speaker of the House is undergoing a corruption trial that will most likely have him spending the next 10 years in jail, Massachusetts looks to add new taxes on candy, soda, spirits (a tax rescinded by voters last fall), and a new graduated income tax up to 9%. Has Massachusetts every met a corrupt politician it wouldn’t vote for or a new tax it didn’t love? I thank my lucky stars to have been born and live in New Hampshire!”

“Thumbs up to Shaws in Salem and Target in Salem for always being active in community events and showing your community spirit in Salem. And ‘thumbs down’ to all the other businesses in Salem who only want to make a large amount of money and aren’t interested in anything else but making money.”

“Thumbs down to all you people who voted for Lyons, I hope you can afford your taxes when you get to enjoy your property tax and I hope you struggle paying it for voting for him.”

“Thumbs up to the people

who gave to the postal workers food drive to help people in need. ‘Thumbs down’ to those who could and should have but didn’t.”

“Thumbs down regarding Pat Hargreaves and the comment from last week in this column. I’d like to point out honesty and common sense, those trump eloquence, there can be no comparison.”

“Thumbs up to the ‘thumbs down’ in this weeks’ news about the bullying by the Salem school district. Can’t agree with them more! There is a certain principal in the elementary school and a certain playground aide who have been bullying children in this district,

there have been multiple complaints and nothing has been done about it. It’s amazing.”

“Thumbs up to the Salem Republican Committee for planning the Labor Day picnic which will provide free food and a chance to meet the republican candidates of 2012. September 5, 3-5 p.m. at the Elks Lodge in Salem.”
