to know this year is all about the one- piece: think 1950’s glamour and vintage silhouettes with sweetheart necklines and halternecks to emphasise your curves. Unless you are blessed with a flat tummy and pert, er, Bristols, look out for costumes with built-in support and Spanx-like slimming technology. When it comes to patterns there are a


few rules: • Stripes: be brave with colour this season and make sure your stripes are vertical or at the very least diagonal or scalloping so that they slim rather than widen. • Florals: blooms never go out of fashion, but if you want to be bang-up-to-date with your swimwear be sure to look towards oriental-inspired prints, and those with a black background. Also look out for ’70’s inspired paisley and bohemian prints in modern shapes. • Tropical: only on holiday could you get away with the latest totally tropical trend.
