Map Largest Display Of Paper Boats
To mark their 125th anniversary on 4 Jan 2010, students of Gan Eng Seng School formed the digits ‘125’ with 171,550 boats folded from re- cycled paper. The boat, inscribed in the school logo, is symbolic of the school’s history.
Largest Structure Made Of Paper Tulips
NUS Students’ Union Public Relations Unit formed the largest structure made of paper tulips measuring by 1.9m by 1.0m by 2.5m (height) at NUS Central Forum on 14 Aug 2009.
Most Paper Cranes Hung On A Tree
To mark Chinese New Year 2009 and the 150th anniversary of the Botanic Gardens, a Tree of Longevity was set up at the main foyer of the Gardens. 9,999 gold and crimson paper cranes were folded by 1,300 students of Nanyang Primary School and pasted on a recycled Pulai tree.
Longest Bronze Mural
The bronze mural, standing 2m tall and run- ning 25m along one side of a wall, separates the Sun Yat Sen Museum from a Burmese temple. It shows large groups of Chinese men who were ordered to report to a Japanese registration centre in a month-long purge of anti-Japanese elements, code-named Sook Ching, which eventually took the lives of thousands. The mural, costing about S$1 million, was sponsored by the Lee Foundation and crafted by a group of artists from China.
The Mind-Mapping Festival kicked off with the unveiling of a mind map drawn by students from a number of schools on 13 Nov 2007 at SIM. The 10.3m x 14.6m map was world’s largest, certi- fi ed by Raymond Keene, International Arbiter of Mental World Records.
Longest Wall Mural
On the stretch of wall outside Chijmes, along Bras Basah Road, is Le Mur Lion (The Lion Wall in French). It was designed by French artist Christophe Tissot and painted by students, taking about six weeks to complete. This 125m wall mural was presented to Singapore by Publicis Eureka in celebration of its 21 years in Singapore.
Largest Poster Printed By A Colour Copier
Fuji Xerox printed 2,944 pieces of A4-size paper from a single C4300 multi-function colour printer. The sheets were put together to form a poster measuring 8.25 by 17.02m at ‘The Colourful Experience’ at Suntec City on 2 Aug 2007.
Largest Structure Made Of Ricola Boxes
Akira Takahashi spent 10 days building a dinosaur made of 3,500 Ricola boxes. The dinosaur, measuring 10 ft high and 6 ft wide, was on display at Civil Service Club (Tes- sensohn Clubhouse), on 11 Dec 2004.
World’s Largest Caricature
On 1 Oct 2007, Peter Draw drew the caricature of Jackie Chan on the Concourse (Level 3) of Suntec Singapore International Convention & Exhibition Centre. The 12m by 30m drawing was done in three hours.
Largest Scrapbook
With guidance from Youth’s Leader Singapore, Yuhua Secondary School students created the largest scrapbook measuring 2.24m by 1.0m which was displayed at the school on 31 Jul 2009. The scrapbook was fi lled with pledges made by students.
Others Recycled Paper Largest Sheet Of Handmade
Ci Yuan Community Centre YEC achieved a world record for the largest sheet of hand- made recycled paper measuring 8.4m by 9.9m. It was displayed at the Ci Yuan Green Park Pavilion on 21 Mar 2009.
Largest Flaming Image
10,000 candles were lighted up for the world’s biggest display of lighted candles. This was organised by Mercy Relief at the Singapore Expo on 22 Dec 2004.
