Largest Slimming Workshop


Totalife Singapore organised the largest slimming workshop on 5 Mar 2006 at the Peninsula Excelsior Hotel. 242 people went through the entire programme of exercises, health talks, slimming tips and taking meal replacements for the entire 10-hr period.


First Women-Only Mass Run


For the fi rst time ever, 2,500 women had the roads all to themselves at the inaugural Shape Run 2006, held on 16 Jul 2006. The 5-km and 10-km races, which started and ended at the Marina Promenade, were held in celebration of ShapeSingapore’s second anniversary.


Largest Dog Gathering


1,850 dogs gathered at West Coast Park on 5 Aug 2007 to take part in the Na- tional Dog Walk 2007 in conjunction with Singapore’s 42nd birthday celebration organised by Mattleah Pet Supplies. There was also a carnival with games, birthday cake for dogs, and movie screening of Shaggy Dog.


Most Number Of Companies Participating In A Race


The JP Morgan Corporate Challenge attracted participants representing 369 companies. 11,753 people took part in the 5.6 km road race held on 6 May 2010 that started on the Esplanade Bridge.


Event Largest One-Day Running


11,000 runners in Singapore joined 24 other countries and an estimated one million other runners worldwide for the largest ever one- day running event - the Nike+Human Race 10k. The event on 31 Aug 2008 was launched to raise funds for the World Wildlife Fund, the Lance Armstrong Foundation, and the UNHCR. Singapore’s fastest runner was Mok Ying Ren, who came in third, in 32 min 52 sec. The fi rst female runner to complete the 10km race was Singaporean Vivian Tang, who fi nished in 39 min 18 sec.


Largest Ever Duck Race


The Great Singapore Duck Race set a new world record in 2002 when more than 123,000 toy ducks took to the Singapore River at Clarke Quay. The race, organised by Festival Square Circle, started in 1998 with 50,000 ducks.


Loudest Laugh By A Group


Asian Civilisations Museum and Radio 91.3FM ushered in the year 2010 with par- ticipants putting up their loudest laughs. The group’s eff ort hit 118 db on 31 Dec 2009 outside the museum.


Most Number Of Children Contributing To A Storybook At One Location


For ten sessions from May to Jun 2008, children had been going to IMM to add a para- graph each to the fantastical story of Ryan and Elisa. The story ended with 281 contributions.


Lantern Parade


Largest Largest Mass Cycling


On 22 Feb 2009, the largest mass cycling event on public roads took place. 5,300 riders participated in the diff erent categories ranging from 5 to 50 km in the OCBC Cycle Singapore.


Land Transport Authority’s lantern parade saw 10,568 participants walk- ing through the KPE Tunnel before it opened to traffi c. The world record was set on 14 Sept 2008.


Most Number Of People Doing Yoga Together


Panadol Extend organised a mass yoga session where 2,068 participants took part. The event was held on 3 Oct 2009 at East Coast Park.


The Singapore Lantern Festival is the largest lantern festival in the region. It started in 1975 with 500 children carrying Chinese lanterns at the Chinese Garden. 103,000 lanterns were displayed during the Lantern Safari 2005, and a record 100,000 lanterns were given away.


Largest Gathering Of People Born In The Year Of The Tiger


308 people born in the Year of the Tiger gathered at the Underwater World Singapore on 20 Feb 2010. Organised by makers of the Tiger Balm, Haw Par Healthcare, the event was also held to raise funds for the Society for the Physically Disabled.


Most Number Of People Wearing Santa Hats At One Location


To bring on the Christmas spirit in the shop- ping mall, 555 participants were gathered to put on Santa hats at the Iluma Bugis’ Christmas celebration on 19 Dec 2009.


Dressed As Vampires


Largest Gathering Of People


At an event organised by 987FM radio station, 180 participants dressed as and had their faces painted like vampires. For some moments, all were also wearing rubber vampire teeth together. The event was held at The Arena, Clarke Quay on 29 Nov 2008.
