May - June 2011
Hello and welcome to my first issue of Packaging Gazette. As the previous editor Keith Lucas told you, he has moved on to pastures new and I look forward to meeting you all and working
with you over the next few issues. Just as this issue goes to print, I have landed
back in the UK after a trip to Germany to visit interpack. The show was impressive in scale, with so much going on that the six hours I managed to spend there was no where near enough! For more on the exhibition, take a look at our best in show feature on pages 14 and 15. Do get in touch about your experiences at the show - I would love to hear about them. Also in the issue is a feature on printing,

labels and labelling, which is introduced with a look at the importance of paper substrates when deciding on a label. Our other special feature this month, which looks at boxes, cartons, board & paper, is introduced with a look back over the last couple of years and its problems for the cartonboard industry. However, Per Haglund of Korsnäs is keen to make sure the industry keeps its head up as changing attitudes towards the material means there is sunshine on the horizon. Our columnists, Neil Farmer and Jane
Bickerstaffe, look at the latest happenings in the industry that are important to them, with Jane particularly looking at the ‘green’ side of events. The issue is closed by Bob Gordon of the British Retail Consortium (BRC) who looks at
