T.Freemantle sleever installations
T.Freemantle is celebrating two sleever installations. The first is for Saarioinen, the Finnish, privately owned food industry group and one of Finland's leading food manufacturers. The raw material for their products originates in the pure Finnish countryside and they are the market leader in many of its operational areas. They are also the largest supplier of ready meals in the domestic market and products are also exported to the Baltic countries, Germany, Sweden, and Russia. Their continued growth in the ready meals market led them to look for a ready meals sleever that could meet the capacity requirements where others had failed. The Preglued Sleever from
T.Freemantle Ltd met these demands perfectly and now runs at a nominal line speed of 85 sleeves per minute on one of Saarionen’s most modern lines. In another
installation, Rippa Dippa Kerry Foods have installed a fully automatic wraparound sleeving machine from T. Freemantle for their recently launched range of Mattessons branded Rippa Dippa meat based snacks. With such a prestigious brand name and a tight schedule to meet, Kerry foods considered a number of potential equipment suppliers. T. Freemantle came out as the clear choice as the UK market leader and installed the machine comfortably meeting the critical product launch date. The pack consists of three twin compartment pots wrapped within one carton board sleeve. The sleeve, with its striking graphics and spot varnish, had to be presented perfectly to meet the high demands of Kerry Foods. The machine incorporates a simple infeed transfer to collate three pots from the line and feed them into the machine. The flat sleeve is then selected from a magazine and wrapped around the product before being glued together. The sleeve allows the edges of
the pot to protrude through apertures in the sidewalls of the sleeve to secure the pots in place within the sleeve. Since its inception in the 1980s,
T.Freemantle has seen continued growth which has included, since 2010, the launch of the
T.Freemantle Automation Ltd division, specialising in full end of line automation. For more information call 01724 272463, email

SEMI-AUTOMATIC FILLING FOR CHILLI
SAUCE PRODUCER An excellent reputation for supplying high quality depositors and filling machines has secured Riggs Autopack a recent order from TCD Foods Ltd, a North-East company producing fine quality chilli sauces, jam, condiments and marinades. TCD Foods, otherwise known as Tree's Can't Dance, began growing chillies on their Northumberland farm over five years ago and it wasn't long before the company started producing their own range of high quality sauces. They now grow in excess of 60 varieties of chillies from every corner of the world which provide their products with an authentic taste. Machine versatility is key to TCD Foods. They required just one filling machine to deposit jam, chutney and pickles into 227ml glass jars, sauces into 100ml bottles, and open then fill half kilo plastic pouches with 150gm of BBQ marinades. With almost 40 years design and build experience, Lancashire based Riggs Autopack Ltd manufacture high quality depositors and filling machines for the food production industry. TCD Food's directors had seen Riggs' filling equipment in operation at other food production premises and were particularly impressed by the accuracy of fill, versatililty, hygiene, ease of use and build quality. Subsequently, they contacted Riggs Autopack to help enhance their own food production process. Following initial consultation, Riggs were
soon able to recommend a suitable filling machine to fulfill the company's specific food manufacturing needs. Following a successful machine trial held at TCD's Haltwhistle premises, they placed an order with Riggs Autopack for a bespoke Model 1000 Option 1 semi-automatic filling machine. It was supplied with a twin skin 100 litre hopper for hot product filling, height adjustable filling table, choice of depositing nozzles to suit their varied container types, and an integrated conical pouch opener which uses food grade quality air to open stand-up plastic pouches. TCD Foods director Mr Dan May is delighted with the new
filling machine. He commented: “In our business it is all about forming relationships and we have developed an excellent one
with Riggs Autopack; they understand our industry very well and obviously that helps. During initial discussions, they quickly understood our specific
production requirements and have provided us with a cost
effective solution that is fulfilling all our manufacturing demands.’’
