Alex Williams The Ex-Soldiers Standard Bearer Alex, a 43 year old care worker who lives

in Selkirk is the

choice of the Selkirk Ex-Soldiers Association to cast their flag this

year. Alex served with the Territorial Army between 1991 and 1995 with the Kings Own Scottish Borderers and was actively engaged in home defence duties as well as being on standby for active service in the Gulf. He was initially employed in the electronics industry in Selkirk before making a major career change and becoming a care worker for the charity Streets Ahead. Alex has chosen Lynn Craig as his Lady Busser, she is the daughter of the late Tam Turnbull who cast the Ex-Soldiers standard 35 years ago. To quote Alex, “I am looking forward with immense pride to this years Common Riding, it is a tremendous honour to be selected to cast and dip the Ex-Soldiers flag on Friday 17th June.”
