“Thumbs up to Gov. Lynch for vetoing the so- called ‘right to work’ bill that passed the Senate and House. It really should be called ‘right to work for less’ because that’s the net effect. So much for good middle-class jobs! No businesses stood up and supported this bill. The majority of our state reps and senators voted for it anyway. So who is being served here, I have to wonder? Now that the Governor has said no, the Republican house speaker has cracked his whip to keep his team in line. We’ll see who really supports jobs and families - it’ll be those who sustain the veto and say no to an override.”

“Thumbs up to the late Officer Fox. First of

all I would like to say to his family how sad I feel for your loss. I never met Officer Fox but my teenage son had. When their paths first crossed my son was going through some hard times with personal issues, he was kind of at a crossroads in his young life. Officer Fox could have easily walked away from my son but he did not. He sat and listened; he gave my son some suggestions that could make things easier for him at that time. Their paths crossed one more time. My son thanked Officer Fox for all his help. The Officer asked how things were going for him, and he said great. They smiled at each other and walked away. I’m happy that my son was able to thank him, now it is my turn. Please try to help the Fox family, send checks to the Salem Police Benevolent Association 9 Veterans Memorial Parkway, Salem NH. In my opinion Salem lost more than a good cop.”

“Thumbs up, way up to John McCain for disagreeing with his republican colleagues that torture helped bring about the killing of Osama Bin Laden. McCain said it did not, he knew first hand about torture from his Vietnam imprisonment. Sadly because Osama Bin Laden was found and killed by a democratic president, the republicans are downplaying this incredible achievement and taking as much credit as they can. When I watch a baseball game and see a member of the opposition’s team make a great play I cheer for him. Sadly the republicans are saying ‘ow’ when they should be saying ‘wow!’”

“Thumbs down in response to the ‘thumbs down’ to the Haigh Elementary School and the wide open gate. You do not have your facts straight. The gate and the woods are owned and controlled by the Town of Salem. Students are never outside without several adults in charge, who are well trained on how to evacuate an area should there be any danger present. Several attempts over the years have been made to have the gate repaired only to have after hour

visitors break it again and again. Unfortunately, people will trespass and vandalize and all of society suffers for that. The idea that someone’s child is going to be kidnapped paints a picture of a lurking figure waiting to pounce on an unsuspecting child, which is not the case at all. Please do not make things worse by publicly verbalizing your angst about this gate and what that means to you before first making calls to the office of the town or the school district.”

“Thumbs down, WAAAAY down to the DPW.

It’s bad enough that the Salem School District makes students walk over a main road (bridge,

“Thumbs up to Everett McBride for trying to get 715 signatures to eliminate the 2nd deliberative session. Voters in the ballot booths should have the final say, not a handful of people that show up on a Saturday morning with special interests. If you want to do something Patriotic for this town, contact Mr. McBride and offer your signature so this bill will make it on the ballot.”

“Thumbs up to House Majority Leader D.J. Bettencourt and his Republican colleagues in the NH House for eliminating the Gambling Tax. It’s about time our leaders started fighting for Rockingham Park.”

Lawrence Road) for a bus stop, because there’s no other stop for some of these kids. But there is BROKEN GLASS all over the sides of the roads. It’s a danger to kids in flip-flops walking. Kids should have the right to wear whatever shoes they want to walk home from school. There actually have been kids who have gotten glass stuck in their foot walking home from school. Doesn’t ANYBODY care about how our town is represented?”

“Thumbs down to the Salem republican committee chairman David Garcia for misleading the public but saying he is working on a SPECIAL Labor Day event. He is talking about the Republican town committee picnic, which was started years ago to promote republican candidates. I guess he wants to take credit for work others did.

“Thumbs down a very big ‘thumbs down’ to the Salem School District. I am sitting here watching the broadcast of the Bullying Conference and hear them talking about how bad bullying is and what the definition of bullying is, and I can help but think of our school principal and some of the teachers and how they fit the definition of a bully. This is a completely intolerable situation, the School District MUST start monitoring the schools and stopping these situations. They cannot leave it to the principals anymore because they are either part of the problem or in complete denial that there is a problem.”

“Thumbs down. Please do not let Pat Hargreaves speak at B.O.S. by ‘reading’ anything. Personally he’s a good man to the town’s residents, but you can see he cannot ‘speak well’ (maybe he’s not educated as well as the rest and you certainly can ‘hear’ that!) Please for our (the public’s) sake, do not let him ‘read’ any more, he has such a hard time pronouncing words and says ‘ohhh’ ever other word and hardly can read certain words. Sorry Pat.”

“Thumbs up to the New Hampshire House of Reps. for seeking to eliminate ‘double dippers.’ The practice of public workers who have retired and are collecting a pension but still work a part-time job must stop!

“Thumbs down, WAY down to Governor

John Lynch for his veto of Right-to-Work. The fact that Gov. Lynch accepted over $112,000 in Union campaign contributions shows that his veto was bought and that he is corrupt.”

“Thumbs up to Rep. DJ Bettencourt for his sponsorship of legislation honoring the brave men and women who killed Osama Bin Laden. His bill earned a very rare unanimous vote of the entire House of Representatives.”

“Thumbs down to Sen. Chuck Morse for

wanting to privatize New Hampshire’s prisons. Privatization is WRONG and opens the state up to lots of liability. How can a ‘for profit’ company do it cheaper than the State, which is not looking to make a profit?”

“Thumbs up to the NH House of Representatives for repealing the Democrat’s gambling winnings tax. This is a huge positive for Salem!”

“Thumbs down to free-staters. If they can’t ruin NH using out-of-state money, they’ll invoke Article 10 of the State constitution, ‘Right of Revolution,’ using in-state weapons.”
